Video – Sunday’s ART of Truth – “Like a Child” – 2-20-22

Hello friends,

Welcome to Sunday’s ART of Truth. Today, I am creating a page in my art journal. This one is entitled, “Like a child.”

My husband wrote me a poem many, many years ago. Based on a truth from Matthew 19:14

“But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven”. The poem follows the verse…

“A glimpse of heaven is watching children play.

Their simple outlook on life

Carefree spirit

Faith that can believe in anything

Colors that cross the lines

Objects can be anything you imagine

They believe they can be anything in the world

No boundaries

Their spirit is free to laugh and dance

Over the littlest things

I know one who is seven

Though some have darkened her days

I still see a glimpse of heaven

Days may feel far from the Kingdom,

But I have seen heaven

In a Who

Who is seven”

I have 3 sisters. Two older and one younger. We are not together. Not all of us, at once. Pain, trauma, and time for healing have separated us. My oldest sister Marla told me recently that when she thinks of us, she sees us all as small children, how we once were.

I have been thinking about that a lot.

Why does she see that picture?

What does it mean?

What does it mean to be as a child?

It means that every day is a new day. It is unbridled hope. It is also believing in the impossible. It is innocence and purity. Additionally, it is unjudged love and acceptance. It is giggles and laughter. Chasing butterflies and believing in fairies.

My husband said it so well as he wrote to a young part of me many years ago.

“Faith that can believe anything”

“Colors that cross the lines”

“Objects can be anything you imagine”

Life happens. Sin happens. Children get hurt. Marriages don’t work out. People, evil people take advantage.

But…healing comes. We still have an insatiable desire to believe in the good. To see the world in simple ways. We want to sing, dance and be free.

For me, I have entered the arena where it feels like anything is possible. ANYTHING. I approach this with the voice of Jesus, the heart of a child, but also with the wisdom of my years.

Through the heart of the child, I can believe anything.

I want a glimpse of 4 little girls sit at the feet of Jesus, together. I want to see us as He sees us.

The quote on this journal page is – “Through the eyes of a child, you will see the world as it should be.”

Yes, I want that. To see the world as it should be makes room for love and hope and no end to possibilities. It frees the soul and opens our hearts.

My friends, is there something you are believing for that feels impossible?

Have you been so wounded that hope doesn’t have room?

Is there a longing in your heart that has been walled off behind pain, risk and fear?

Have you lost someone and the hole that is left is still bleeding?

Can you touch the magic of the child in you that still believes in simple things?

Do you long to feel carefree as a small child?

Can I lend some encouragement? Not from a place of having answers, but from being there right now. Listen to the longing. Give it a voice. Nurture it. Guard it. Share it with a safe person. Wrap yourself up in a blanket. Hold onto something that brings you comfort. Close your eyes. Imagine yourself as a child. Feel the joy, the hope, and the whisper of possibility. The playfulness and the innocence. It might feel silly or impossible or uncomfortable. It might not work. It might be too soon. Please, try again.

My friends, know that the dark doesn’t last forever. The grief changes. I know this sweet friends. I know this very well.

Until next time, be safe and know that you are loved,

Beloved-Reborn
