Video - Sunday's ART of Truth - "His eye is on the sparrow" - 9-4-22

Hello friends,

Welcome to Sunday’s ART of Truth. It has been a long time since we have had a Sunday’s ART of Truth. Thank you for joining me here. Today, we are creating around this beautiful rice paper image of these five birds. I don’t know if they are sparrows or not, but I am pretending they are.

These past few weeks, I have had this song going through my head that says, ‘His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches over me.’ Often when those things keep circling around inside of me, there is something I am supposed to be paying attention to. So, I thought that getting messy with some mixed media techniques would be perfect for expressing my thoughts around this.

The first thing I want to talk about is the background papers that I used. They are vintage music papers from my collection dating back to 1912. This one song is entitled ‘A Little Pink Rose’. When I was picking the background papers, I will always gravitate towards anything about pink roses! I paid no attention to the verse at that point. When I was gluing them down, I saw what they said. The verse is short and goes like this. “A little pink rose in my garden grew, the tiniest one of all, twas kissed by the sun.”

I couldn’t believe how well that message fit with the truth about how much we matter to Jesus and to Papa God. Just as this rose, though the tiniest of all was kissed by the sun. The actual words say, ‘sun’, but I choose ‘the Son’. How beautiful is that?

Do you know how precious you are? Do you know that He watches over you?

I speak and write from my personal walk with Jesus and rejoice and celebrate how much I am loved by him and how he has rescued me and cared for me. In my darkest times, I was never alone. In the most awful memories, I was not alone. He saw, and still sees, every tear that falls down my face. He even sees the ones I swallow down my throat. His eye is on the sparrow. He knows and cares when a sparrow falls, how much more does he care for us?

Sometimes, we feel alone, invisible, misunderstood, and lonely, even though we are not always alone. We can feel passed over, insignificant, a bother, and ignored. Like this art piece with all its layers of beauty hidden behind walls and cracks, who we are is still there. What we desire is still there, even if we are afraid. Life breaks us. We build our walls. We get cracked. We hide. We isolate. We disappear. My friends, the beauty of who we are is still there.

Relationships are complex. People come from different places. Some deal with their baggage and heal, and some do not. The sad thing is that we have no control over that in others, do we? Often, we are left with mixed up emotions. The hardest, private kind that we swallow down our throats and we try to hold our chins up. We do not want others to see that we are hurting. The hole can be enormous and threatens to swallow us up. It is easier to swallow the tears and tell ourselves that we don’t need to be seen, heard, understood, or accepted.

Often, my friends, we have no control. That’s OK.

We can rest in the truth that we are cared for by the Creator. We are seen as highly valued, and we are never truly alone. Though people fail us, and we fail others, we are still deeply loved and loveable.

My friends, no matter where you come from or what has happened to you, you are dearly loved. No matter your faith system or where you find your strength, you are dearly loved. No matter if you believe in Jesus or a higher power, you are dearly loved.

I don’t know about you, but I want to feel that ‘deeply loved’ place. I want to live in the place where it matters that I hurt. It matters that no one understands. It matters, what happened to me.

We continually heal and we live loved.

To live LOVED and PRECIOUS, is the greatest gift we can ever have.
