Hello friends, welcome to Sunday’s ART of Truth. Today, the inspiration for this journal spread was from a quote I saw on Facebook recently. “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life” – Pablo Picasso. I have had some challenging things happen these past couple of weeks. Not just challenging, but heart wrenching. In that place, I struggle to find a way to express that and process it, but I found myself in tears every time I thought about creating around those feelings. When I saw the quote, I begin to think of what I do, in part, to move through hard emotional things. I create. That’s what I do. I get messy. I get lost in my studio. I find peace there.
Many things were stirred in my heart as I created this journal page. I knew I wanted the image in the center crossing over both pages. As I moved creatively and intuitively through the process, a healing visual occurred. The texture created around the focal image quickly began to look like the walls of a secret garden. I was surprised when I realized that the image has a picture of a gate or door with a rusty hinge and key. I didn’t plan that, but what a sweet surprise it was. As I added color to the texture, it became so clear that this page gave me a wonderful picture of safety, security, the life that I live within, and the boundaries I establish to keep myself safe and well.
When we must make decisions to let go of people in our lives, it is heart wrenching. However, when those relationships destroy, there is a time to move away, exit, protect, and establish a boundary. A door perhaps? A gate? Sometimes, it is a wall. For me, these last weeks, I found myself needing to erect a wall. It is a wall that protects my heart from hurtful abuses, dead-end dialogue, and taking into my soul things that are ugly and hateful and full of lies.
So, yes. Sometimes we need a respite to our secret garden. Our safe place. A space where can process and heal and get back up and face the world again. The stings of words aren’t easily erased, and yet, if we can find that safe haven of peace, we can heal.
For me, my peaceful place is my studio, within my home. I come in here and I can cry and create. I can pour it all out in creative ways.
I think, for each of us, our haven or place of peace will be unique to us. For some, that is their car. For others, it is in a book. Yet, others might find that boundary of peace outdoors.
We all have been hurt and we have hurt others. We all have wounds that need time to heal.
My friends, I hope that you can give yourself permission to sit in that place, whatever it is. Like art, it can wash from you soul, the dust of everyday life. It is good. It is right. It is necessary. It is healing. It is a gift you give yourself, and also others.
Be Blessed my friends until next time,
Beloved – Reborn

Cara Renee, this was so beautiful, the quote reminds me of the scripture Isaiah 61:3 To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. Your art is always so beautiful it captured me the first time I watched a Sunday’s art of truth. September is my favorite month, it is my birthday month😊 it is also a sad month, my dad passed away 9/2/93 from lung cancer, my mom passed away 9/5/2001 unexpectedly from a heart attack, then 2 weeks ago 9/20/22 my youngest sister Tini passed away due to complications from a bacterial infection in her heart valves, for the past year she had been in a nursing home due to a wreck and stroke which left her unable to use her left arm and leg, and brain trauma, but which opened a door of opportunity to reconnect with her after about 19 years. Tini always lived her life on the EDGE of the cliff, about a year before my mom died she became addicted to meth, she chose a lifestyle a path that destroyed relationships and bore hurt, but in the end she rededicated her heart to the Lord, peace replaced chaos, and loved replaced bitterness, when she breathed her last she was surrounded by family. Thank you for sharing not only your art but your life the beauty and the ugly stuff and then finding beauty from the ashes, joy in spite of the mourning, praise in moments of heaviness ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lynne, wow, that is a lot of loss 😥 I love hearing stories of redemption. It is a beautiful thing. I had to let go of my youngest sister yet again. I can’t continue to be in the path of her constant cyclone. I wish it was different 😥
I am so he appt to hear that you were able to reunite with your sister after so many years ❣️
Thank you so much for sharing a part of your story. It is the best thing about creating and sharing publicly 💛
Blessings
