Hello, friends! I know most of you aren’t watercolor fanatics like me—but I had to share this magical little palette I found. The Phoenix Twist Palette blew my mind with its compact, travel-friendly design, and at only $22.99 for 24 colors? Yes, please!
Now…confession time: I’m a self-proclaimed watercolor SNOB. I’m spoiled by M. Graham and Qor paints—but I still had a blast testing the Phoenix set! While I question its “Artist Grade” claim, in my opinion it is much better than student-grade and perfect for beginners or anyone who wants to play with watercolor without breaking the bank.
In this video, I confess my snobbery, having already removed the Phoenix paints from their pans with a sinister plan to replace them with my second favorite watercolors! Qor.
Additionally, I share my honest impression of the Phoenix paints and the palette. Together we will add the paint to the pans and swatch them out. In the photos at the end of the video, I share a glimpse of my purse travel pouch. It includes cotton wrist band for dabbing water and paint. Additionally, in the zipper section, I have pencils, markers and erasers. I also carry paper towels and an additional small water cup. Lastly, I have included the travel brush that came with the palette and purchased water pens in 3 sizes.
Whether you’re just getting into watercolor or a longtime paint snob like me, I think you’ll enjoy this mix of magic, practicality, and a bit of chaos!
