Hello Friends,
Welcome to Sunday’s ART of Truth. To be completely honest, I was really struggling with what to create this week. While, I have spent some time embracing the fall and autumn in a new way, I am ready to move on 😊 I have stretched enough for one season. I find that joy, for me doesn’t come with the seasons. I have seasons that I love and that energize me, but joy is found in other things around me.
I decided to take a step back and give myself some freedom to step outside of the box for this writing and creating. I was thinking about gratitude and focused on what being grateful does for us. For me, when I am grateful, I have joy. We all find joy in a variety of ways in our lives.
I love lace, pink, and soft colors. I love sunflowers, roses and hydrangeas. I adore white, it brings me great joy! I love my people, my husband, my daughters, son, grandchildren. Conversations with pre-teen boys, everyday conversations over the dinner table with my husband. Having a special needs student look me in the eye and tell me, “thank you for teaching me”…Be still my heart.
I am surrounded my joy when I sit in my studio and create. In this place, I am enveloped in all the things that fill my heart. I find joy in cleaning my studio and putzing around the house.
So, I decided to create this large tag and a cute journal card using Angela Kerr’s Simply Sunflower digital kit. I was immediately transported from a place of struggle with what to create and what to write about this week, into the middle of my perfect joy.
What I learned from this was not what I created but how precious the joy was when I was creating. It was like being set free. Shaking off the chains of my own expectations and patterns, I found that the creativity just poured out.
Lesson to self:
Do what you love Cara-Renee. Remind myself that there are no rules, there is joy to be found in looking around me, listening to my heart and honoring where creativity takes me.

Do you ever just buy yourself flowers? (I think I am going to do that tomorrow when I go to the grocery store 😊)
Do you allow yourself to get lost in a book?
Or just sit by the window and notice the world shedding the seasons. Leaving something behind, to reach for something new?
I want to encourage you…as I do myself.
Be deliberate in your pursuit of joy. It’s the little things that we often miss 😊
