Video –
Hello friends,
Welcome to Sunday’s ART of Truth. Thank you for stopping by. Grab a chair and a cup of tea and let’s talk about being soulful.
As I have shared in some previous videos and blogs, I have reunited with my oldest sister after about 30 years apart. It is a beautiful and grace filled story about two hearts seeking Jesus, healing, and each other.
In last week’s Sunday’s ART of Truth, I shared about “For such a time as this…” We talked about how things happen in perfect time for the places we are at in our journey. Five, ten or 25 years ago, I would not have been ready to be reunited with this precious human I needed to heal. She needed to heal.
When she reached out to me via a comment on a public Facebook post around Christmas time, I gently entered a place of prayer, quiet, soulful pondering, and a lot of waiting. I wasn’t necessarily waiting on her. I was longing and needing to hear that still small voice to tell me what to do next. I wanted to be sure I wasn’t making an emotionally charged decision. I wanted to be gentle with her and me.
I wanted to share about this today because I have realized what a powerful place it is to sit in stillness. To not rush. To pause and reflect. To eliminate the sense of urgency for the next thing.
I have discovered that, in that place, I am able to make sound decisions without regret. It is a place of taking care of body, soul, spirit, heart, and mind.
When we pause and don’t rush to judgement, we exercise our faith and connect with whatever our source we turn to for peace and direction. For me, that is Jesus. I trust Him to guide me in each step, and more so every day of my life.
This reuniting with my sister is sacred ground. Trauma and trouble separated us. I want to be careful and very mindful about how I proceed. I want it to flow from Him because then I know it will be as it should be. It will be perfectly imperfect.
When I was thinking about the inspiration for this piece, I was drawn to the concepts and practices of being soulful.
What is soulful? Emotional, deep, deeply felt, profound, heartfelt, sincere, passionate, and meaningful…
I found this little article from Senatobia Health Care. It says, “Living soulfully means bringing the things a person loves into the every day”. I love that. The little girl image that I chose for the focal point was demonstrating bringing the things she loved into the every day. In the picture, her doll was discarded on the ground. As I mentioned in the video, I didn’t see that as a negative or careless thing. She was in the moment. In that moment, she was in a beautiful and serene place. There was a cat and bubbles. I could just imagine her dropping her doll in order to experience the magic of the next thing.
As I created, I was reminded that our joy comes in places where we live in the moment. We don’t borrow tomorrow’s troubles or fret over what we cannot control today. Children are very much in the moment. As I have healed over these last 30 years, through Jesus’ healing, I was able to connect with the soulfulness, joy, complete abandon & simplicity of being a child.
As an adult, I want to live there. I want to step with care everywhere I go. I want to notice the bubbles. I want to be 100% present in the moments of my life. So much has been lost in my life, but it is never too late to recapture the beauty in those moments.
My friends, I want to encourage you, as I often do, to find that place in you where you can connect with that soulful and alive place. That place of quietness and without the push and pull.
It might be sitting at the window, wrapped in a warm blanket with a cup of tea in hand. Feel the heat of the cup. Breathe deep, the fragrance of the hot tea. Notice the trees outside of the window. Listen for the sounds of your own soul whispering to you.
It might be getting lost in a good book. It is important to practice self-care in whatever form. We need time to reflect and re-energize. We need to fill our minds and hearts with things that are life giving.
This does not mean there will not be difficulty, yes?
Of course. However, it makes the difficult possible and deep satisfaction can be found in the hard times as well as the good times.
I hope that you are encouraged. I hope that you enjoyed the sharing and the video.
Give yourself a hug and a pat on the back. Know that you are enough. We are always growing and learning. It is a beautiful thing
Blessings until next time,
Beloved-Reborn
