Hello friends,

What fun I had creating this beauty. I wanted to create something that expressed the gratitude and comfort that I feel knowing that angels attend to us. I wanted a simple background with a lot of depth. I experienced both as I created this lovely piece. I talk about much about the inspiration throughout the video, so I won’t linger long here today. I am however reminded that in this world of fragility, pain, memories, difficulties, cracks, and brokenness, that hope can be found in my Papa God. We are all cracked. We have all experienced brokenness, but; in the midst of the brokenness, there are opportunities for the most beautiful discoveries.

For the past week or so, I have been struggling with some old memories and feeling a bit undone emotionally and mentally. When I get in that tight and dark place, I talk to Jesus. I ask for truth, and he always gives me a gift in that. Today, I created this mixed media piece with angel wings to express the peace that I feel thinking about angels and imagining them surrounding me.

From the place of personal faith, I believe that they are sent by our precious Jesus to bring us comfort and to be with us. I have seen angels, and I have seen demons. I have lived in the light and the deepest of darkness. I have asked for angels with a simple ‘Help Angels’. Comfort comes. Peace comes. When I have no other words, those two words bring immense comfort.

There is a verse in the bible in Psalm 91: 11-12 (Good News Translation) – “God will put his angels in charge of you to protect you wherever you go.”

It isn’t magical, nor does it stop bad things from happening.

However, I believe it is one of the gifts that he gives us to be comforted and feel a sense of protection.

Have you ever been in traffic and felt frustrated and concerned about being late to work? Only to hear later that there was a terrible accident at about that same time and in the general vicinity. Or been pissed off because you didn’t get through that light only to realize that you might have just been saved from something tragic? I have.

Have you ever been woken up by something that felt ‘other worldly’? a sense or an inkling. A sign.

Several years ago in October, a car drove off the road and into our front yard. It narrowly missed our house. The tracks were found in the light of day to be about a foot or foot and a half from the front of our house. The car stopped right before it hit our front deck. The car backed up and sped away. At that time, I was not in the house. The next morning, my husband left a note for me that said, “Do you want evidence of divine protection? Look out in front. In front of the room where you paint. Look at the grass”. Tire marks driven into the grass. The tracks ran parallel with the front of our home, our refuge.

As we marveled and shared in gratitude that night, we were mesmerized at the little things that were part of that story. Why did the car stop before hitting the deck right next to where my husband was sleeping? Why did we plant that tree on that corner of the property nearly 16 years before? Could it be that the tree slowed the car down? Or was there more? I believe it was all those things. We both have no doubt it was Jesus, it was angels, it was the tree, it was divine intervention.

Does he stop everything? No

Are there good things and bad things that happen? Yes.

I would rather live my life full of faith in things that are invisible, things that bring comfort and peace. And things that glorify God and lift him up as the great Papa God that he is. He has sent angels to comfort me in ways that I could understand and wounded parts of me could receive.

Yes, I gladly believe that he gives his angels charge over us. The angel wings in this piece were a sweet reminder that his heart is always with his. In the good, the bad, the very hard, and the impossible!

I hope you find comfort and courage in this. I hope that you are reminded of the good and light things that bring you comfort and a sense of deep peace. Angels and Jesus do that for me.
